Cycle
1-The
service mode is down-flow through the resin media for best filtration
and maximum exchange capacity. The resin media is regenerated in an up-flow
manner, the bottom of the bed is more highly regenerated so hard water
entering the top of the bed first is tempered progressively through the
bed and prevents excessive hardness leakage. As found in standard water
softeners. |
Cycle 3- The slow rinse or pulsing cycle,is also counter-current to the service flow. The pulse is governed by energizing the #2 solenoid intermittently to produce a flow rate of about 1/4 of the fast rinse rate. This preset time produces a rinse volume of about 2 times the tank volume. Cycle 4- By energizing the #2 solenoid continuously a fast counter-current up-flow rinse agitates the resin media vigorously to further clean the bed of turbidity and traces of brine. This fast rinse also continues to purge the system of air that may have entered the system due to a faulty pump or air check. An upper screen prevents the loss of resin. Cycle 5- This cycle is the purge and refill cycle. Deenergizing the #1 and #2 solenoids allows the piston to-return to the service mode. A few seconds later the #3 solenoid is enerized allowing a flow of water to travel down-flow through the resin bed to settle and pack it for service, simultaneously diverting a predetermined flow of soft water to refill the salt dissolver. The system is now ready for the next service run of several hundred gallons of Soft, Filtered, Iron Free and Refined Water. |
